| This
is another piece of absolute goregousness by electronica visionary,
Vladislav Delay, one of the worlds foremost 'micro' electronica
artists.
What
you get here are 10 lenghty slabs of precision-crafted retro tech/house.
This is made through very clever arrangements of micro samples
which create a dense and challenging soundscape, brimming full
of subtlities but with a certain degree of melody, thus making
it throughly engaging on a cerebral level, yet utterley dancable.
The sound is more akin to the more commercial orientated works
of Luomo rather than Delay's more abstract works released under
his own name. That is not to say that this will be found spinning
in your typical superclub.
Instead,
the sound spilling from the speakers conjures up images of smokey,
hazey, 'ultra sophisticated' dancefloors at the hippest clubs
where the champagne is flowing, the pills are popping and the
combination of pyrotechnics and beautiful girls slowly gyrating,
hypnotise you. This is a soundtrack to 3am heaven. There are elements
of occasional spliced vocal snippets which work very well to drive
the tracks forward, whilst elements of micro-dub shine through
giving a classy and unique sound to proceedings. The beats are
masterfully crafted and arranged and will serve to refresh the
ears of those complaining of dominating 4/4's
Production
wise, this is obviously immense. Delay specialises in creating
very warm organic sounding sounds with a wide soundstage, something
which is especailly important when there are many nuances. As
with all Delay releases, repeat listens are needed to fully understand
goings on. (AM)
