If the release of TMV's 'The Bedlam In Goliath' wasn't enough, the tireless Omar Rodriguez-Lopez is releasing another solo effort on the 5th of Feb. Entitled 'Calibration', it features a host of collaborations with the likes of John Frusciante, Money Mark and other TMV members. 13/01/08 New PJ/Parish Collab Planned. Remember the gloomy magic created on 1996's 'Dance Hall at Louse Point', PJ Harvey's first album with John Parish. Well the duo have entered the studio and a follow-up is planned for the end of 2008. 12/01/08 Autechre Track List Announced. Electronica stalwarts Autechre have announced the tracklistings for their new 20 track album 'Quaristice' which is out on March 3rd via Warp. Click here for more details. It seems that Ektro records have waken up to the fact that Finnish psyche-rockers and speedkraut experimentalists, Circle, have become increasingly popular. Thankyfully then, a reissue of their ultra-rare storming debut, Meronia has been remastered and is available once again. Electronic sculptor, Tim Hecker is back with a new EP after his lauded 'Harmony In Ultraviolet' LP. The limited 500 vinyl only 'Atlas' features two 10 minute tracks and will be out on Audralight on 27th Nov. A new full length is also in the process of being written for Kranky records and is expected early next year. 25/11/07 The Aztext's Sophomore release hits the streets. Vermont based hip-hop trio, The Aztext are back with their new release, 'The Sacred Document' featuring Mac Lethal and One Be Lo. See our review here. 25/11/07 ISIS is 10! Epic doom-rockers, ISIS are now a decade old and to celebrate they are releasing two new singles on IPECAC for release early next year. Watch this space. 24/11/07 Del Jux?. Del The Funky Homosapien signs a new deal with tpp indie-rap label 'Definitive Jux'. Sci-fi rapper Del, best known for his work with Gorillaz and Deltron 3030, is bringing his self-produced album, 'The 11th Hour', to stores in Feb 2008. Catch Del on tour now in North America. 24/11/07 The Wu return. Wu Tang are back with new album '8 Diagrams' on the 11th December. Lets hope for a return to the gritty rawness of their debut rather than their more recent, irrelevant, ghetto-bling releases. 13/11/07 Welcome the cold. Expect a punishing bass, drums and guitars melded together in cosmic crust, but with Andrew WK at the production helm, expect a more polished and well produced affair than the tinny 'turn it off, it hurts' rawness of previous outings. 15/10/07 Circle and Sunburnt Hand of Man jam spontaneously: A collaboration between Finland's 'Circle' and psyche-rockers 'Sunburnt Hand of Man' whilst on tour in Europe has led to the release of a new 40minute improv hippy psyche-jam entitled 'The Blaze Game' by 'Sunburnt Circle'. Available on CD or limited edition Vinyl, it can be bought by clicking here. 10/10/07 Amencore back in business: Venetian Snares follows up 2005's neo-classical homage to the amen break, 'Rossz Csillag Allat Szuletett' with a new album entitled 'My Downfall'. August 07 27/08/07- ATP adds new acts for 7-9 December event: Where else can one witness Boris, Portishead, Sunn O))), Malcolm Middleton, OM, Julian Cope and Aphex Twin in one event. Butlins Holiday Resort in Minehead is the venue for this winters event. 13/08/07 - UUSITALO release comming soon: Vladislav Delay's glitch house side project, Uusitalo, is releasing its 2nd full length release, Karhunainen, on October 15th, through Humme records. Keep tuned for a full review soon. 04/08/07 - MELVINS special package: Veterans of the heavy music scence, The Melvins, will release a collection of 8 unreleased recordings from 1987. Out on October 09th, through Bi-Focal Media, the new release, entitled 'Making Love Demos', comes with a book of comic art by Brian Walsby. The comic entitled 'Manchild 3' is the third in the series by the former Ryan Adams drummer and creater of Melvin's album cover art. 03/08/07 - New KANO album announced: UK grime-hopper, Kano, releases his eagerly awaited second album, 'London Town' on September 10th. Guests including Craig David, Kate Nash and Damon Albarn suggest a more varied album. The LP is supported by a mini-UK tour, taking in London, Glasgow, Liverpool, Nottingham, Bristol and Southampton.
Pre-August 07 29/07/07 - MONO announce new tour and album: Japanese instrumental rock band, who have just released the wonderful 'Palmless Prayer/Mass murder Refrain' LP, announce a fresh fall tour of the US with heavyweights 'High On Fire' in support. If that isn't enough, an album of rarities entitled 'Gone' has been announced which collects the Japan-only 'Hey,You.EP', the one track from the Pelican split, the Vinyl Films 10", the TRR100 track, and 'The Phoenix Tree' EP. To be made available on 1CD or 3 limited edition vinyl's. 05/01/07 - Bjork rumoured to headline ATP vs The Fans: Ticket buyers are being given the chance to choose the line up in this years ATP festival (May 18-20) and so far Bjork is in the lead to headline. 'Apples In Stereo' and 'Youthmovie Soundtrack Strategies' have also been confirmed whislt 'Arcade Fire' and 'Sufjan Stevens' have confirmed that they are unavailable. 03/01/07 - Zozobra release new album: Hydrahead's latest band 'Zozobra' which features Cave In/Old Man Gloom bassist Caleb Scofield and fellow OMG drummer Santos Montaño have released on Hydrahead. Described as possessing "harmonic tremors which deftly traverse the far-flung fields of transcendental space rock and explosive dirge metal (not to mention the occasional Godflesh-style pounding) with alternately snarling and oscillating riffery, crippling bass quakes and apocalyptic proclamations hurled end-over-end toward the cosmic unconsciousness", Cool! 03/01/07 - New Stars of the Lid Coming Soon: Kranky announce that L.A/Brussels based duo, Stars of the Lid release new lp, 'Their Refinement of the Decline' is scheduled for April 2nd, 2007 and will be forthcoming on 3xLP/2xCD. Sound samples and videos are available soon from Kranky.net. 29/12/06 - Major Ninja Tune albums announced: Music noir/breakbeat expert Amon Tobin and Contemporary Jazz group, 'The Cinematic Orchestra' have announced new albums. Amon Tobin hits out with his CD/DVD entitled 'Foley Room', which is released on Feb 26th, 2007. This reviewer will be taking that day off because Tobin releases are like golddust. The Cinematic Orchestra release 'Ma Fleur' on the 27th of April.
